If you’re a fan of Bob’s Burgers, then you know that Tina Belcher is an absolute icon. She perfectly captures the awkward teenage years when we learn to navigate social dynamics while still being a kid ourselves. Although the characters on the show don’t age (except Tina on her 13th birthday, and has been that age for the rest of the show since), we can’t help but gush in enthusiasm seeing the character development of our Teeny Tina throughout the 13 seasons.
In season one, we see her as an imaginative (a little too imaginative) but shy and awkward teenager who just wants to fit in and be cool. We’ve all been there, right? However, this desire to fit in causes tension between her and her parents, and she often talks back to them. It’s a classic representation of every teenager’s struggle to find one’s own identity and place in the world.
But as the show progresses, we see Tina grow and mature into a more empathetic and loving character. She learns to accept and love herself despite peer pressure and becomes more understanding and caring of her family. And her growth doesn’t go unnoticed. Her younger siblings, especially Louise, are shown to trust and rely on Tina more, just like when Louise needed Tina to dunk Mr Frond in the water, and when she told Tina about writing a real poem. It’s heartwarming to see how they all come together as a family.
Bob’s Burgers is one of the best-animated family sitcoms out there, and the Belchers are a family we can all relate to in some way. After all, every family is a little kooky in their own way. Tina Belcher will always hold a special place in our hearts with her quirky, (embarrassingly) relatable, sassy, and lovable personality.
